Biography

Elsie is a registered occupational therapist with experience working in various areas of practice, including medico-legal, mental health, paediatrics and rehabilitation.

As a clinical educator, Elsie works across disciplines to provide clinical education support to students and clinicians in the Dubbo region of the Three Rivers DRH footprint.

Elsie grew up in various rural areas in South Africa and appreciated the unique opportunities and challenges related to living and working rurally.

Teaching and Research

Elsie is actively involved with the team’s delivery of professional development opportunities to clinicians and stakeholders in regional and rural NSW. Elsie also enjoys supervising occupational therapy students on placement.

Elsie’s research interests include health placements in vulnerable communities, innovative placement models, rural allied health staff recruitment and retention, professional identity, and the experiences of CALD students and clinicians regarding rural health.
