Travel Support Scheme

Please review the eligibility criteria outlined below before completing the application form to ensure you meet all requirements and can provide supporting evidence if needed.

Purpose

This Travel Support Scheme has been developed to support health discipline students from universities other than Charles Sturt, to undertake a clinical placement in the Three Rivers DRH footprint.

Eligible students can apply for $150 per week of placement. Payment will be made upon successful completion of the placement. Evidence of placement completion must be supplied by your university.

Students need to be travelling 80km or more (one way) to the location of their clinical placement from their home address and place of residence during university session.

If your application has been successful, payment will be made via bank transfer and may take up to 6 weeks to be issued following receipt of all required documentation.

Please note: Charles Sturt students should apply for the Three Rivers DRH Placement Grant.

Eligibility criteria

Students should meet the below-listed criteria when applying for Three Rivers DRH Travel Support Scheme (TSS). The parameters around the eligibility criteria are set by the Australian Government as part of the Three Rivers DRH funding agreement.

  1. Students are to be Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or permanent residents of Australia (including the holder of an Australian permanent visa).
  2. Students are to be enrolled in a recognised health profession course at an undergraduate or postgraduate level with a registered Australian University. Enrolments at TAFE and private universities are not eligible under the RHMT program.

    Eligible disciplines are: Aboriginal health work, audiology, chiropractic, dentistry, dietetics/nutrition, exercise physiology, medical laboratory science (pathology), midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, orthoptics, orthotics and prosthetics, oral health, osteopathy, paramedicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology, medical radiation sciences (including diagnostic radiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and molecular imaging), social work, sonography, speech pathology. Please note that not all courses are included in our funding scope.

  3. Students are to be attending university as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) student. A CSP is an enrolment subsidised by the Australian Government. Not all enrolments are CSPs.

    Verification of CSP:

    • A copy of your university acceptance letter or offer letter, which states you have been allocated a CSP in the course you are applying for Three Rivers DRH Support.

  4. The placement being applied for must be organised and confirmed by the relevant Registered Australian University.
  5. Placement is to be undertaken within the Three Rivers DRH footprint.
  6. Placement duration must be a minimum of 2 weeks (10 days consecutive at 80% of full-time equivalent placement days).
  7. Students need to be travelling 80km or more (one way) to their clinical placement from:
    • home address, and
    • place of residence during university session – where you reside during university sessions.
  8. Applications must be submitted before the completion date of the placement. Applications submitted after the completion date of the placement will not be accepted.
  9. Students must supply written evidence from their university that they have satisfactorily completed their placement. This written evidence must be supplied within 4 weeks of the completion date of the placement.

    This evidence must include:

    • Student name
    • Name of the university/on university letterhead
    • Student course enrolment
    • Placement subject
    • Placement location (name and address of placement provider)
    • Placement dates
    • Placement duration (number of days)
    • Satisfactory completion of the placement.
  10. Students who have received Three Rivers DRH Subsidised Accommodation for the placement subject listed in this application will be ineligible for the Travel Support Scheme.
  11. Three Rivers DRH receives a high volume of applications for grants. Meeting the eligibility criteria may not guarantee access to the Travel Support Scheme. Early applications are encouraged.

I undertake that if I am successful in obtaining the Three Rivers DRH Travel Support Scheme, I will meet all administrative commitments as outlined on this web page. I am aware that I will forfeit this Travel Support Scheme if I do not meet these requirements.

By applying and accepting Three Rivers DRH student support, I agree to:

  • Consent to authorised Charles Sturt University staff (including Three Rivers DRH staff) to access the information provided in my application and my Charles Sturt University student records for the purposes of assessing and administering the financial student support.
  • Provide any change of individual circumstances relating to my application, including changes to my placement, in writing to Three Rivers DRH at ThreeRiversDRH@csu.edu.au
  • Receive communication for an opportunity to participate in surveys for promotional purposes and review of Three Rivers DRH student supports.

All students are required to understand and accept that personal information provided to the University may also be disclosed to a person or organisation external to the University for purposes other than those stated above, where such disclosure is required or permitted by law or if they have otherwise provided express consent.
