Free health clinician professional development – Tough talks, boundaries and self-care

This free face-to-face professional development session for health professionals, held in Deniliquin, will focus on how to have tough talks, give self-care, and maintain boundaries.

The aims of this workshop include:

  • Tough talks – you will explore how to plan, approach and use tools for tough talks and courageous conversations.
  • Self-care and boundaries – we will think through the principles and practical ways of considering your boundaries at work and how/when to practice self-care.

The learning objectives of this workshop are:

  • Discuss the difference between a tough talk and courageous conversation and why they are important.
  • Discuss the barriers to having tough talks with colleagues, managers or others both personally and professionally and why people avoid them.
  • Explore some tools and techniques used to have tough talks and practice using them.
  • Develop practical strategies and communication skills for establishing and maintaining boundaries.
  • Explore the importance of self-care in managing stress and burnout.
  • Identify strategies for maintaining self-care and wellbeing.
