Free workshop for aged care staff, nurses and allied health clinicians – Aged care through an Aboriginal lens, enhancing care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elder clients
Delivered by Corporate Culcha, we are sponsoring this unique 5-hour workshop for residential aged care staff, nurses and allied health clinicians from all backgrounds who are keen to deepen their knowledge of First Nations peoples. The workshop is designed to enrich your understanding and practice in caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Facilitated by Jodi Sampson, a proud Gomeroi Man from North Western NSW, you will be introduced to the rich history and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a special focus on ways of being, communication styles, and cultural protocols. You’ll learn about expectations and insights around Elder care, including practices and beliefs around care in the final days of life – critical aspects that support truly holistic and sensitive service delivery.
Whether you’re new to aged care or a seasoned clinician, this session will help you build confidence, foster respect, and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. Join us to broaden your perspective, enrich your practice, and contribute to culturally safe care for First Nations Elders.
This session offers a rare opportunity to gain insight into the principles of knowing, being and doing from an Aboriginal perspective, helping you provide more culturally informed and respectful care.
Morning tea and resources will be provided.
