Free professional development for aged care staff, nurses and allied health clinicians – Palliative care in the context of aged care

This free face-to-face education session in Deniliquin is presented by Palliative Aged Care Consultancy Service (PACCS) and is designed for all direct aged care staff.

PACCS is a team of experienced clinical nurse consultants who collectively offer three decades of palliative care experience across aged care, community, and inpatient palliative care services.

The team are skilled educators with significant experience teaching all levels of medical, nursing and allied health staff within NSW District Health Services, universities and TAFE institutions.

This workshop focuses on palliative care in the aged care context, with PACCS’s Clinical Nurse Consultant, Margaret Nichols. The session will include:

  • Recognising the deteriorating resident.
  • Addressing myths and misconceptions associated with palliative care and medications at end of life.
  • Exploring case studies and formulating a care plan in an interactive session.
  • Evaluation of training and identification of further training needs.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided. Bring your own lunch.
